Porteur RackThe VO Porteur Rack is a traditional-style rack as used on the famed Parisian newspaper delivery bikes. Those Parisian delivery bikes were reputed to carry as much as 110lbs. of newspapers on similar racks (of course, the bikes had strengthened frames and forks, not just racks). Our Porteur Rack is made from strong stainless steel tubing and polished to a lovely shine. It won't rust like painted steel racks or fatigue and crack like aluminum racks. The quality is actually superior to that of many custom racks. In short, this is a real load-carrying rack, not an aluminum "style-rack". Yet total weight with rail, nuts, bolts, etc. is only 1.079kg. The platform is about 36cm x 29cm. A removable rail attachment is included and very handy for smaller packages. The tangs are pre-drilled to fit 700c, 27", 26", and 650b bikes. There are four bosses for a light attachment. There is a boss for securing your fender to the rack -- no rattling! Please also note the elegant pannier/tie-down loops above the mounting tangs. Mounting hardware is included. The Porteur Rack mounts to the dropout eyelet and the brake bolt (or fork crown hole). Max weight with this configuration is 25 lbs. You can use our Straight Arms for Campeur Racks, Compression Hardware, and a pair of p-clamps around the rack's tube if you are running super heavy loads and want more stability. You can load it up with 40 lbs of gear if you use this configuration.More info & order
Decaleur KitsDecaleurs are traditional quick-release mounts for handlebar bags. Unlike some modern bag mounts, they keep the bag low for better handling and for keeping the handlebars clear. The VO fork mount decaleurs are mounted on the fork's steerer tube either below the headset lock nut or within the spacer stack. Full stainless steel construction Available to fit 1" and 1-1/8" forks Works with most traditional-style bags such as Velo Orange, Acorn, Ostrich, Sologne, Berthoud, TA, LaFuma, and similar Receiver uses a 3mm thick spacer Bag Mount uses 6mm posts Mounting hardware included Posts are 8 cm forward of the front of the headset ring Please remember that a decaleur is intended as a quick-release mechanism, not a support for the full weight of the bag; the bag must still rest on a rack or on the fender. Fork mounted decaleurs can be bent slightly to adjust the bag's height, but they might not work with very tall or short frames (for those frames we recommend a front rack with an Integrated Decaleur). Note: We strongly recommend that you use at least one strap or elastic cord, in addition to the decaleur, to secure your bag to your front rack. If you hit a large bump or pothole, it is possible that your bag could bounce up, detaching the bag from the decaleur receiver.More info & order
Randonneur Front Rack, CantileverThis is a stainless steel front rack that is perfect for a handlebar bag, tied-down dry bag, or basket. All Velo Orange racks are made from polished tubular stainless steel, so they will never rust, flake, and can be re-polished to a mirror shine even after years of use. As with our other racks, there are light mounts on the side of the platform. The platform is 20.7 cm long and 10.2 cm wide. The tombstone (backstop) is 9.5 cm tall. If you plan on getting into offroad exploration, we suggest using a toe strap on the bottom of your bag to ensure it says put over the rough stuff. If you are getting a custom frame made, we suggest sending the rack to the builder beforehand. 5.4kg max weight capacity. All mounting hardware is included. Installation instructions found here. This rack requires the use of cantilever brake bosses. Works best with canti posts that are between 75 and 80 mm wide. Use our Randonneur Front Rack if you don't have cantilever brakes. Randonneur Front Rack with Integrated Decaleur, CantileverThis is a stainless steel front rack that is perfect for a handlebar bag. The decaleur (bag mount receiver) is integrated into the rack platform. The advantage to this system is: your bag-decaleur-rack combination is more solid, lighter, and less likely to rattle. Integration is the Holy Grail of Constucteur-style bikes, and we feel that these racks are a big step in that direction. All VO racks are made from polished tubular stainless steel, so they will never rust, flake, and can be re-polished to a mirror shine even after years of use. As with our other racks, there are light mounts on the side of the platform. The platform is 20.5 cm long and 10.2 cm wide. Most traditional style handlebar bags work perfectly with this rack (any bag around 20cm tall), but very tall bags may need a longer bag mount. If you plan on getting into offroad exploration, we suggest using a toe strap on the bottom of the bag to ensure it says put over the rough stuff. If you are getting a custom frame made, we suggest sending the rack to the builder beforehand. This rack requires the use of cantilever brake bosses. Works best with canti posts that are between 75 and 80 mm wide. Use our Randonneur Front Rack with Integrated Decaleur if you don't have cantilever brakes. 12lbs (5.4kg) max weight capacity. Constructeur Rear RackThe VO Constructeur Rear Rack fills the need for an elegant, small, and sturdy rear rack for those of us who don't need a heavy duty touring rack. It will accept a set of small panniers for a multi-day trip, serve as a platform for a saddle bag, or carry a rack-top bag. All VO racks are made from polished tubular stainless steel, so they will never rust or flake, and can be re-polished to a mirror shine even after years of use. The rack can be mounted two ways. Either directly to the rear fender using the threaded eyelets on the underside of the rack, or by using a strut (not included but available in regular or XL size) to mount to the seatstay bridge. Flat Pack RackThe Velo Orange Flat Pack Rack is designed to be super strong and adaptable, allowing it to be neatly mounted on nearly any bike with rack mounts on the fork blades. Adjustability is accomplished by employing sliding stays and darumas to dial in the position and level of the rack. With so many forks out there riddled with eyelets and holes for low-riders and 3-pack mounts, you can choose where the rack will mount. The platform is known as a “demi-porteur”. Its size is somewhere between a full Porteur and traditional Randonneur front rack. The main benefit to the demi-porteur style is better stabilization for large Randonneur Handlebar Bags as well as better support for baskets and large, bikepacking bags. The uprights are removable and can be interchanged between a decaleur receiver for a Randonneur-style handlebar bag and a tombstone loop for a basket or other luggage. When disassembled, it can fold almost completely flat - which is really useful for travel where space is at a premium. The Flat Pack Rack mounts to the fork crown using a little do-dad we call a Foot. This beefy mount sits flat against the fork crown and is also mounted to a daruma-style receiver, so it can slide up or down and in and out depending on your clearance needs. The lower portion of the stays are curved in such a way that they can mount flush on the side of your fork's blades. Additionally, the front of the rack features a braze-on for a light mount. The kit includes all the hardware you need to install the rack on most bikes: Four aluminum alloy stays - use two for a weight capacity of 12 lbs or use all four for a weight capacity of up to 17 lbs. Five daruma assemblies Decaleur receiver Backstop Foot with M6 bolt, washer, and nylock nut Screws for fork mounting Details: Platform size: 27.5cm x 20.3cm Weight (including all hardware): 708g Material: Stainless steel platform, backstop, and mounting hardware. Velo Orange Grand Cru Rinko headset JISRinko is a type of touring cycling that’s popular in Japan. It involves travelling on a train with your bike in order to reach a cycling destination. The bike’s wheels and fork are removed and all is placed in a lightweight nylon bag, the bag is treated as regular luggage in the train’s passenger compartment. The Rinko headset facilitates removing the fork without needing tools to do it. A Rinko headset has teeth that keep the important parts from spinning and a knurled top cap for easy removal. The top cap also has holes for a pin wrench in case you over-tighten it. So far as we know, this is the first sealed cartridge bearing Rinko headset. The cartridges are held in place with spring clips. The body is steel to resist damage when disassembled.
